Course Syllabus

Abstract

The course includes two main blocks studied simultaneously: the first block introduces students to various aspects of business interaction in an intercultural environment: self-presentation, personnel management and teamwork, business etiquette, preparation for public speaking and presentations, negotiations, conflict resolution, etc. Training is based on role plays, case studies, brainstorming and discussions. The aim of the second block is to introduce students to the classifications of national and business cultures of different countries of the world and their influence on business behaviour, implementation of tasks and strategies in the international business environment. The course provides students with an opportunity to study and compare the characteristics of the cultures of Russia, Western countries , the Asian region and Scandinavia.

  • Students accumulate and bring together different points of view, and negotiate collective solutions to pressing problems.
  • Students implement tactics to negotiate effectively within various cultural environments using appropriate language.
  • Students interpret and forecast cases of a culture shock and learn how to adapt to an international context.
  • Students analyse differences between cultural oppositions and formulate tactics knows how to work with ethnic stereotypes.
