Course Syllabus

Abstract

This course gives you access to the data visualization techniques. With the right techniques, data visualization can bring out insights that management personnel can use when making decisions to make them sound, data driven. Most of the data is stored in spreadsheets, where they are almost never used by anyone. To get more out of the data, it needs to be organized and well interpreted.

  • Students are required to complete quizzes and to complete a final project using open data and the knowledge they gained during the course. They are designed to illustrate some of the specific state-of-the-art approaches within the broader areas.

  • - deep dive into the world of charts: their classification, the process of creation, tasks to be solved via different charts, and key rules to create a perfect graph - To get an overview of available online tools for charts creation.
  • - to learn how to create an effective presentation - fundamentals of creating the presentation will be covered: types of presentations, key elements, and pillars to create a story - 5 main components of the presentation will be discussed: structure, composition, colors, illustrations, text. Af-ter finishing this week you will be able to create powerful presentations.
  • - to learn how to build an effective business intelligence tool - to learn how to use different types of visualisations for building a dashboard - covering the foundations and key principles of building a dashboard
  • - to learn the fundamental analytical scheme starting from data preparation and ending up with data visualisation in a form of a dashboard in Power BI
  • - to get the skill of vivid and accurate graphic representation of such types of data (getting competitive advantage)
  • - making the final project
