Abstract
The course is designed to provide an understanding of how to meet the growing energy demand while eliminating the environmental consequences of energy production and consumption. It will explore energy transitions of the past and contemporary challenges of energy system decarbonization including the role of innovation and technological advances in delivering climate goals. The primary objective of the course is to familiarize students with existing frameworks, theories, and conceptual approaches to analyze different policy options for the global energy system transformation and climate change mitigation. The course will examine the economics of competing energy resources and equip students with analytical tools to compare costs of different energy technologies and emissions abatement options
