Abstract
In this course we approach philosophy of culture from different angles. We start with classical theories of culture by Marx, Durkheim, Weber and Simmel. Then we proceed to theory of culture in western Marxism, and after that to symbolic interactionism, phenomenology and ethnomethodology. After that we switch to social philosophy of art in modernity. After that we take the macro perspective and dive into the theories of modernization and contemporary sociology of religion. The last lecture is dedicated to a topic of contemporary burnout culture, understood through the conceptualization of philosopher Byung-Chul Han and theologian Josef Pieper.
