Course Syllabus

Abstract

The idea of the research seminar "Craft of Comparisons" is to present the students the rich spectrum of comparative studies: from sociology and demography to economics, cultural studies and even linguistics. Students will get familiar with not only most important theoretical concepts but also learn the cutting-edge methodological approaches. The lecturers of the seminar are accomplished scientists with a solid research and teaching backgrounds. They will bring their own experience and examples to make the seminars richer and more practical.

  • To be able to detect similar approaches of different disciplines in order to organise, conduct and analyse comparative research
  • To be able to choose a correct theoretical and methodological approach for a planned research
