Abstract
Neuroscience is a field that aims to understand the anatomy and function of the nervous system that includes the brain. This course will focus on the anatomical properties of the nervous system. It will overview a history of neuroscience and cover basic language and concepts in this field. The course will also cover mechanisms including molecular and cellular that bring about motor, sensory, affective and cognitive action, and milestones in brain development.
Learning Objectives
- Overview a history of neuroscience
- Cellular and gross anatomy of the nervous system
- Function of neurotransmitters and role of animal studies
- Sensory and motor systems
Expected Learning Outcomes
- Students will learn what is neuroscience and gain a historical perspective of this discipline
- Students will learn the fundamentals of the general anatomy of the nervous system
- Students will learn about cellular aspects of the nervous system
