Course Syllabus
Abstract
This course is a continuation of the course "Lie groups and Lie algebras" given in Fall. One of the goals of the course is to generalize results of the representation theory of the Lie algebra $\mathfrak{sl}(n,\mathbb{C})$ to an arbitrary simple Lie algebra. For this we will study the structure theory of Lie algebras, in particular, we will discuss one of the most beautiful topics in mathematics - the classification of semisimple Lie algebras.
