Course Syllabus
Abstract
The course discusses professional, social, and scientific research ethics, the article and book publication processes, the academic job market. Furthermore, supervision of Term papers and Master's theses, presentation of research results, and the peer-review-process. Parallel to that, students will improve the implementation of research designs into their Term papers and Master's theses.
Learning Objectives
- To get students familiar with the full cycle of paper and thesis preparation
- To get students familiar with the major requirements of academia: the rules, ethics and standards of research
Expected Learning Outcomes
- Students understand and follow research rules and ethics
- Students are able to effectively prepare a reference list for a scientific paper
- Students are able to formulate research questions and to find literature for practice-oriented studies
- Students are able to write a draft of a research paper in order to prepare a scientific publication
- Students understand the procedure of peer review of a scientific paper
- Students understand the major principles of scientific approach
- Students know a process of dissertation preparation and can apply it while preparing term paper and thesis
