Course Syllabus

Abstract

This course will present you with a thorough exposition of main methods and metrics, enabling you to identify and manage the value of a company. You will learn how to assess whether management are creating shareholder value and what are the key value drivers. Within this course you will also consider special cases in valuation such as valuation in emerging capital markets and how to address the country risks in valuation, how to adjust the changing capital valuation methods to high-tech (technology) firms. The course aims to develop value - based thinking for decision-making for a range of corporate strategies. It is focused on risk-return trade-off approach to performance measurement and their applications at different life-cycle stages of a firm. The course is a compulsory discipline included in the Professional Core of the online degree Master program and is designed to ensure the professional competence in methods of business valuation, new performance metrics based on residual income conception, value- based framework to assess corporate strategies.
