Course Syllabus
Abstract
Course deals with basic of the concept of what digital business transformation is, the main methods and tools for building a digital business in various industries based on real business cases. Course develops the basic knowledge of the models of information systems management, including overview of the main trends, discussion of the most common technological solutions and approaches of deployment and projects. Also discusses the main managerial and economic benefits generated by adoption of digital business transformation projects based on the different solutions.Students will learn a range of prototyping techniques and apply them to real-world challenges and at the end of the course, students will have the opportunity to present and defend approaches to a possible project of digital business transformation.
Learning Objectives
- The course is aimed to provide students with necessary knowledge and tools to create: • different models used to analyses organizations are reflected in different information systems architectures • differentiate various classes and types of information system developed and used in organizations, seen within a historical context • present arguments for a strategic role for information systems within organisations and alternative models to support this role and to establish such strategies • describe the basic principles and elements of benefit management, in the context of the alignment of the strategy of an enterprise and its information systems development.
Expected Learning Outcomes
- Understand how to assess the level of digital maturity of a company, learn about the main risks and pitfalls of digitalization, create a digital transformation roadmap
- Understand the sequence of steps to launch digital business transformation projects
- Know how to choose the right digitalization strategy
- Understand the different architectures of information systems and the main classes of solutions that represent them
- Be able to present arguments in favor of the chosen digitalization strategy
- Be able to use various methods and tools in the implementation of digitalization projects
- Be able to calculate the effects of such projects
