Course Syllabus
Abstract
The overall goal of this course is to develop and master research and writing skills required across business disciplines. Upon completion of this seminar, the students will be able•Critically appraise conceptual frameworks in various areas of study•Practice different academic writing strategies•Apply meta-analysis in the studied area•Plan activities for and prepare a research paper
Learning Objectives
- Upon completion of the course, students will be able to • Appraise grounded theory and “empirics first” research approaches • Examine role of theory in discourse communities • Apply essay concepts in drafting and structuring hypotheses • Distinguish between different types of relationships: direct, moderation, and mediation • Plan event study • Formulate research questions and research contributions
Expected Learning Outcomes
- Apply 5-paragraph essay structure to writing scientific arguments.
- Prepare arguments for the direct effect hypothesis.
- Prepare rationale for the moderator hypothesis.
- Practice meta-analysis using published empirical research.
