Abstract
The word theoretical in the name of the course is somewhat misleading, and the name should properly be just English Grammar, but the word has survived since the early days of the course and since then certain changes have occurred which suggest that it should be removed. The course offered is the natural continuation of the course of Practical English Grammar. Its goal, however, is not merely to lay down the rules, but rather to describe the structure of the English language from the word to the text, to show how the language operated.
