Course Syllabus

Abstract

The course aims at examining the foreign policy of the People’s Republic of China since its establishment in 1949, with major emphasis on recent developments. We will explore a range of issues of foreign policy, such as China’s grand strategy, role in Asian region and global institutions, relations with the West and emerging economies. The course pays special attention to student debates on three major issues: how to eye a rising China, the trade-human rights link, and China-Taiwan future relations.
