Sergei Davydov’s chapter was published in the book “Social Theory and PR”
The HSE Publishing House has published a collective monograph “Social Theory and PR”, which examines public relations activities through the prism of modern social theories.
One of the chapters was written by Sergei Davydov, a senior researcher at our Laboratory.
The chapter “Away from Normativity: The Research Program of D. Hallin and P. Mancini” was included in the first section of the monograph entitled “Media Theory and Public Relations.” The main subject of consideration is the model of analysis used by these authors in the classic work “Comparing Media Systems: Three Models of Media and Politics” (2004).
The book by D. Hallin and P. Mancini is devoted to a comparison of media and political systems in 18 countries of Western Europe and North America. The authors identify three models: Mediterranean, or polarized pluralistic; Northern European, or democratic corporatist; North Atlantic, or liberal. Sergei Davydov draws parallels between the genesis of the theory of media systems and the theory of public relations, noting that the “empirical turn” of D. Hallin and P. Mancini opens up prospects for new research, including outside the Western world.
The book will soon be available to readers in paper format. Detailed information can be found on the website of the HSE Publishing House.
