Scientific and practical conference “Digital Currencies and Assets: Problems and Prospects”
On October 8-9, 2024, the Scientific and Practical Laboratory of Financial Innovations and Risk Management and the School of Finance of the National Research University Higher School of Economics will hold a scientific and practical conference "Digital Currencies and Assets: Problems and Prospects" at the Institute of Economics of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the National Research University Higher School of Economics (Moscow). The conference will be devoted to the discussion of current issues and modern trends in the field of digitalization of money and finance.
The conference consists of two sections:
Section 1 - "Digital Ruble: Theory and Practice of Using Digital Currencies in Domestic and Cross-Border Settlements" will be held on October 8 (14:00-17:00) at the Institute of Economics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, at the address: Nakhimovsky Prospekt, Building 32, 4th Floor, Academic Council Meeting Room.
Section 2 - "Digital financial assets: instruments, technologies and economic potential of application in the Russian financial market" will be held on October 9 (14:00-17:00) at the National Research University "Higher School of Economics", at the address: Pokrovsky Boulevard, Building 11, Auditorium T510.
The work of the sections will be carried out in the form of round tables, at which leading Russian specialists engaged in research in the field of digitalization of monetary systems, financial markets and banking will speak. Speakers represent the largest scientific organizations and higher education institutions of the country, such as the Institute of Economics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Research University Higher School of Economics, the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration, MGIMO University, Moscow State University, the Graduate School of Management of St. Petersburg State University, etc.
The conference will also be actively attended by prominent representatives of the business community, representing the Association of Participants in the Electronic Money and Money Transfers Market "AED", Digital Payments LLC, the Commission on Payment Systems and Cross-Border Settlements of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Moscow Exchange PJSC, ANO "Center for the Protection of Depositors and Investors", ACRA rating agency, NRA rating service, etc.
The following issues will be discussed at the conference:
- methodological issues of money circulation;
- global experience in implementing central bank digital currencies;
- the impact of the introduction of central bank digital currencies on the financial system and monetary policy;
- use of digital currencies of central banks and digital financial assets in cross-border settlements;
- proposals for the concept of the digital ruble;
- long-term trends in the development of financial instruments in the context of technical progress;
- the efficiency of the functioning of cryptocurrency markets;
- the role of digital financial assets in reducing transaction costs in the economy, etc.
