MIEM Students Took Third Place at Autodesk Hackathon

On May 13th-14th 2016, the final round of the hackathon on cloud design was held at Stroganov Moscow State University of Arts and Industry. The event was organized by Autodesk — who also provided the participants with cloud services and whose specialists provided consultations to the students during the competition.

There were two rounds of the competition: on the first day of the contest the teams were asked to design a model of a plane-like drone without face-to-face interaction among team members. On the second day of the event the teams presented the drones they had designed during the first round and demonstrated the functioning of the designed prototype.

The event brought together students from leading schools and institutes, including HSE MIEM students. The HSE team came from the Laboratory of 3D Imaging and Computer Graphics (Head — Alexey Rolich), took third place in both rounds and was awarded with certificates and prizes.

HSE team:

  • Team captain – Nikita Sergeev, 2nd-year student of the bachelor’s programme ‘Information Science and Computation Technology’
  • Kristina Deryabina, 4th-year student of the bachelor’s programme ‘Information Science and Computation Technology’
  • Andrey Skuratov, 2nd-year student of the bachelor’s programme ‘Information Science and Computation Technology’
  • Anastasia Zaitseva, 4th-year student of the bachelor’s programme ‘Information Science and Computation Technology’
  • Anton Kyargin, 3rd-year student of the bachelor’s programme ‘Information Science and Computation Technology’

The organizers praised the designed prototype and gave some advice on further development of the project.
