Foreign Students to Join HSE Preparatory Programme

This year the HSE’s Faculty of Pre-University Training will offer for the first time a programme to prepare foreign students to study in Russian at the Higher School of Economics. Although aimed primarily at those wishing to enroll in undergraduate programmes, it is also available to those wishing to study at the Master’s level.

More than 60% of the time spent during the Preparatory Programme for Foreign Students (a description of the programme in Russian can be found here) will be devoted to Russian language study. Before the beginning of classes, students will be divided into groups according to their degree of proficiency — basic and advanced. Training includes lectures and seminars and will continue for two semesters. In July, all students take an exam after which they will receive a certificate of completion of the programme.

In addition to the study of Russian, the training programme for foreign students will include mandatory English and two subjects in one of the following areas: social-economic, social-humanitarian and technical. These subjects will be studied mainly in the second semester, with students taking the classes in Russian. This preparatory programme should allow foreign students to pass the entrance exams to the HSE in Russian.

The Preparatory Programme for Foreign Students is currently accepting enrollments at the webpages in English and in Russian. Classes begin on September 29.
