HSE Students Take 3rd Place in the Microsoft Hackathon
The Microsoft Hackschool for students was held in Moscow on October 14-15. Microsoft experts and Microsoft partner students helped identify the best projects during the event that could change students’ lives.
The hackathon focused on developing applications for Windows 10 (the new platform for pcs, smartphones and tablets) and applications for Windows Phone 8.1.
The team ‘Kyle the Killer’ represented MIEM at the hackathon. The following students – members of the Laboratory of 3D Imaging and Computer Graphics led by Alexey Rolich – made up the team:
- Andrey Skuratov, 3rd-year Information Science and Computation Technology student
- Nikita Sergeev, 3rd-year Information Science and Computation Technology student
- Kristina Deryabina, first year MA student in Data Journalism.
MIEM students presented a game application using the movement recognition system Microsoft Kinekt 2.0. Flawless technical implementation of the game and its unique design helped the students take 3rd place in the hackathon. The team’s developments have already been presented at a number of events such as the Autodesk Hackathon and the Nauka0+ festival, among others.
