A Fresh Look at the Dynamics of Political Radicalization
On 12 January, Chares Demetriou presented his book The Dynamics of Radicalization: A Relational and Comparative Perspective at a seminar of the Laboratory for Economic-Sociological Research. His main research interests are in issues of legitimacy and political violence, social movements and nationalism. In his lecture, Demetriou presented new ways of analysing the radicalisation of political groups.
Leading Universities Will Recruit Foreign Students Together
On December 24th 2014, a meeting of the Council of the Association of Global Universities took place at HSE. The Council decided to establish a centre which will focus on recruiting foreign students for universities who are participants of the project 5/100.

On December 17 the awards ceremony for Startup of the Year 2014 took place at the Technopolis Moscow congress centre. Of the 350 projects entered for this prestigious prize, 7 winners received the coveted statuettes - 6 for the different nominations and one from the audience. Professor Charles Bingham, a prominent Canadian philosopher of education from Simon Fraser University in Vancouver is currently visiting HSE’s Institute of Education. As part of his visit, Professor Bingham gave a talk on schooled epistemology at the postgraduate seminar and conducted a master class on teaching techniques.

At the International Institute of Administration and Business, Christian Gueritte of the Total Professors Association gave a masterclass on Oil and Gas and Global Energy Issues.Total has been operating in Russia since 1991 and is one of the key partners of Russian oil and gas companies in the exploration and production of hydrocarbons.

Higher School of Economics Expands Cooperation with University of Turin
On December 3, 2014 an Italian delegation led by the Rector of the University of Turin, Gianmaria Ajani, visited HSE. First Counsellor of the Embassy of Italy in the Russian Federation, Agostino Pinna and Pietro Fre, Deputy Head of Theoretical Physics Department and Attaché for Science of the Embassy of Italy in the Russian Federation were also present. The heads of the two universities signed two new cooperation agreements to extend the already existing links between them.
Golden HSE -2014 Award Winners Announced
