Neural Network Developed at HSE Campus in Perm Will Determine Root Cause of Stroke in Patients
Specialists at HSE Campus in Perm and clinicians at Perm City Clinical Hospital No. 4, have been collaborating to develop a neural network capable of determining the root cause of a stroke. This marks the world's first attempt to create such a system, the developers note.
Leading HSE University Scientists to Receive Grants from Ideas Research Centre for Neuroscience Research
The Ideas Centre for Advanced Interdisciplinary Research has announced the results of its 2023 competition. Five leading neuroscientists will receive grants to open graduate positions for early-career researchers who want to work on solutions to fundamental problems in this area. Three of the competition winners are scientists from HSE University: Matteo Feurra (HSE University in Moscow), Anastasia Kolmogorova (HSE University in St Petersburg), and Sofia Kulikova (HSE University in Perm).
‘The “Neighbours in Research” Conference Has Become a Special Hallmark of HSE University in Perm’
The 10th anniversary scientific conference ‘Neighbours in Research’ was held at HSE University in Perm. This year it received the status of an international event—research was presented by scientists not only from different regions of Russia, but also from Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan. The conference's key concept is interdisciplinarity, and as a result, reports were presented from various branches of science, including economics, linguistics, sociology, law, digital technologies, and neuroscience.

System to Automatically Identify Causes of Cryptogenic Stroke Under Development at HSE University-Perm
As a result of the 2023 Teacher-Student Team Research Project competition, the project ‘The Development of Automated Approaches to Identify the Aetiology of Cryptogenic Stroke with the Aim of Preventing Secondary Acute Cerebrovascular Accident’ has been created with funding from the HSE Academic Fund Programme. The project is led by Sofya Kulikova, Senior Research Fellow of the Laboratory of Interdisciplinary Empirical Studies (LINES).

HSE University has announced the winners of the Project Competition in Basic Science Research for Intercampus Departments. The competition, which the university is organising for the first time, will provide funding to 10 research teams working on five topics. Brain Research and Blockchain Technologies Discussed at Perm Workshop on Applied Economic Modeling
How does the brain work? How does neuroeconomics use the study of brain activity? How can MRI help rehabilitation after a blood stroke? Are blockchain and bitcoin the biggest innovations in finance in the last decade? And what are the prospects for their development? These and some other questions were discussed at the Perm Workshop on Applied Economic Modeling, and open city workshop in December.
