The IV International Scientific Conference "Interaction. Integration. Inclusion: labyrinths of meanings and horizons of possibilities" has recently concluded. This year, 17 sections and a round table meeting were organized, which brought together more than 400 participants interested in the study and development of socio-cultural integration from different countries and regions of Russia.

Arnab Roy Chowdhury, Assistant Professor at the HSE School of Sociology, Moscow, has worked at HSE since 2017. In 2022, he was named one of the university’s best teachers by student vote. He has published several papers in internationally recognised journals and supervised a number of doctoral students. Below, Dr Chowdhury talks about his research career, the changes in the global academic environment, and the larger role of international scholarly cooperation.

The preliminary defense of Md. Reza Habib's dissertation was held on August 4, 2023 at a joint meeting of the Department of Sociology and our Laboratory.

On August 4, 2023, a pre-defence of the thesis on ‘Refugee-Host Community Conflict over Assimilation, Integration, and State Legitimacy: The Case of Rohingyas in Bangladesh’ by Md. Reza Habib will be held at HSE University. The preliminary defence will take place at a joint meeting of the HSE School of Sociology and the International Laboratory for Social Integration Research. The results of the 2022 student vote for Best Teachers of HSE University have been announced. This year, there are more winners among international faculty than ever before. The HSE News Service talked to 2022 winners Cemal Eren Arbatli and Arnab Roy Chowdhury about their attitude to students’ assessment of teachers, their experience of positive and negative feedback, and the challenges of teaching online.

'Teaching at HSE' workshop held on November 15 once again welcomed internationally recruited faculty members and led a discussion about teaching findings and best teaching practices.

Participants of the workshop 'The Future of Science and Technology in BRICS Countries: Challenges and Responses', the closing event of the 8^th HSE Foresight Conference, shared the five countries’ experience of promoting research cooperation and the results of joint foresight studies.
