‘Our Students Will Be Happy to Visit HSE Campuses in Moscow, St Petersburg, and Other Cities’
On September 26, 2024, the HSE Administration held a meeting with a delegation from Azerbaijan at the HSE historic building in Pokrovsky Boulevard—the Durasov House. Representatives from higher educational institutions discussed potential areas of cooperation. An agreement was also signed between HSE University and Baku State University.

The round table “Global Geopolitical Transformations: Opportunities and Implications for Latin America and the Caribbean” was held on October 30, 2023, in Moscow in a mixed format.
Scientific seminar "Enhancing Confidence and Security through Military-Political and Military-Technical Cooperation between Russia and Brazil within BRICS"
A scientific seminar "Enhancing Confidence and Security through Military-Political and Military-Technical Cooperation between Russia and Brazil within BRICS" was held on June 30. The seminar was dedicated to military-political and military-technical cooperation between Russia and Brazil, as well as the development of confidence-building measures and security in bilateral relations and within BRICS. Participants discussed the creation of a consensus-based security framework based on trust-building measures and human security, as well as the possibility of extending this concept to other BRICS countries.
Scientific seminar “Foreign and Domestic Policy of Mongolia at the Present Stage”
On May 10th, a scientific seminar was held on the topic of “Foreign and Domestic Policy of Mongolia at the Present Stage”, which focused on analyzing the impact of great power rivalry in the region on Mongolia's domestic politics and diplomacy.
HSE University and ICCA RAS Launch Russia’s First Intensive Student Workshop on Collaboration with China
In late April, the official opening ceremony of Russia’s first intensive student workshop ‘Chinese Perspective’, organised jointly by the HSE University Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs (WEIA), the Centre for Comprehensive European and International Studies, and the Institute of China and Contemporary Asia of the Russian Academy of Sciences (ICCA RAS), took place. The intensive course will allow students to explore Chinese business culture and acquire the skills to work and do business in China.
Northeast Asia and Prospects for the “Asian Century”
On December 2, 2022, School of Regional Studies Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs, HSE University held the session “Northeast Asia and Prospects for the “Asian Century” within the framework of the 4th International Conference “The world majority in the contemporary international realities: from fragmentation to new institutionalization”.
V. Kashin and L. Sokolshchik took part in the first scientific and educational camp of ACONA 2022/23 academic year
Director of CCEIS V. Kashin as a speaker and associate professor of the Department of Foreign Regional Studies, researcher of CCEIS L. Sokolshchik, as an invited expert, took part in the first scientific and educational camp of the Academy of Arms Control Negotiations (ACONA), which was held from August 15 to 19 in an online format. The start of a new cycle of the project was preceded by a lot of preparatory work. For almost three months in the weekly mode L. Sokolshchik together with colleagues from MGIMO, Harvard University, the Woodrow Wilson Center, the Frankfurt Peace Institute, and the University of Iceland, participated in the formation of the program and the content of the camp events. During the camp, discussions, master classes and speeches by leading world experts in the field of strategic stability and global security, trainings on conducting international negotiations and resolving the most pressing issues of modern international relations were organized for project participants from the USA, Russia, Europe, Asia during the camp.
Important changes in the CCEIS
The CCEIS is happy to share some crucial news. Director of the CCEIS Anastasia Likhacheva has been appointed Dean of the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs of the Higher School of Economics. Vasily Kashin is now the new director of the CCEIS. He is a leading Sinologist, an expert on military-strategic issues, the former deputy director of the CCEIS, and the head of the sector of international military-political and military-economic issues. At the CCEIS, Vasily Kashin was in charge of multiple applied research projects. He also led a team of employees and postdocs, which launched a series of regular monitoring sessions on various aspects of China's development.
The 28th Session of Eurasian Online Seminar. International Panel
On Wednesday, October 27, 2021, the Department of International Relations and International Laboratory on World Order Studies and the New Regionalism of the National Research University Higher School of Economics held the twenty-eight session of Eurasian Online Seminar. The seminar was held in the form of discussion panel. The topic for discussion was “The Politization of the Covid 19 Pandemic: Views from various Countries and Regions”.
Report "Russia's Arctic Policy: International Aspects"
At the XXII April International Conference, the report "Russia's Arctic Policy: International Aspects", made under the leadership of Sergey Karaganov, was presented. The report was co-authored by the CCEIS staff Anastasia Likhacheva, Vasily Kashin, Dmitry Suslov, Igor Makarov and Ilya Stepanov.

On May 22 the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs hosted the roundtable discussion with the delegation from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy dedicated to the future world order and the US-Russian relations.
