From 1988 to the present day, Prof. Kagan has been on the permanent staff in the Kapitza Institute as follows:
- From 1989 to1991, after PhD defence in 1989 , Junior Scientist in the Kapitza Institute.
- From 1991 to 1994, Scientist in the Kapitza Institute.
- From 1994 to1999, after Habilitation defence in 1994, Senior Scientist in the Kapitza Institute.
- From 1999 to 2006, Leading Scientist in the Kapitza Institute,
- September 2006-present time Principal Scientist at the Kapitza Institute after being elected as a Corresponding member of Russian Academy of Science
- .Lecturing Experience 1996-2012 Professor in the Moscow Engineering Physical Institute (MEPHI) on the Galitskii Chair of Theoretical Nuclear Physics ( In the year 2001 he was awarded Professorial title)

HSE Academic Council Meets for the Last Time This Academic Year
The meeting was held in person for the first time in over two years. It was attended by Sergey Kravtsov, Russian Minister of Education, and Dmitry Smyslov, Vice President of VK. The Council discussed HSE University’s breakthrough projects in engineering and artificial intelligence and elected new distinguished and tenured professors.
Frontiers of Low Temperature Physics
On August 17th-21st, 2017 the International Conference ‘ULT 2017: Frontiers of Low Temperature Physics’ was held at Heidelberg University. Maxim Kagan, Professor at HSE School of Electronic Engineering took part in the event.
