Abstract

The course "Comparative Ethio-Semitic studies" is given during the third year of study. The aim of the course is to give the students the information on history and development of Ethio-Semitic languages. The Ethio-Semitic language group is represented by languages spoken in Ethiopia and Eritrea and includes such languages as Geez, Tigrinya, and Amharic, which are studied in the framework of the specialization "Ethiopia and the Arab world". Learning these languages is essential for understanding the history and culture of this region. In the framework of the course "Comparative Ethio-Semitic studies" the students will gain the knowldegde of the historical connections between these languages. Besides, they will get aquainted with other Etiho-Semitic languages (Tigre, Argobba, Harari, Gafat, East Gurage, Gunnan-Gurage), with their sociolinguistics and their grammatical features. At the same time, the students will learn basic facts on the language map of modern Ethiopia and Eritrea, on the language policy of these countries, on the problem of the minority languages of the region. In the framework of the course, the students also study the online-course on the comparative folklore studies (https://stepik.org/course/51/promo). Курс «Сравнительное изучение эфиосемитских языков» читается на третьем году обучения. Целью этого курса является предоставление студентам теоретических знаний об истории и особенностях развития эфиосемитских языков. Эфиосемитская языковая ветвь представлена практически исключительно в регионе, изучаемом в рамках данной специализации (в Эфиопии и Эритрее). В нее входят языки, являющиеся основными для студентов данной специализации – геэз, тигринья и амхарский, т. е. языки, изучение которых является необходимым для понимания истории и культуры данного региона. В рамках курса «Сравнительное изучение эфиосемитских языков» учащиеся получат сведения, которые позволят им по-новому осознать исторические связи между этими языками. Кроме того, они поверхностно ознакомятся и с прочими эфиосемитскими языками (тигре, аргобба, харари, гафат, восточные гураге, гуннэн-гураге), как в социолингвистическом плане, так и с точки зрения их грамматических особенностей в сопоставлении с уже известными им эфиосемитскими языками. Одновременно они получат представление о языковой ситуации в современных Эритрее и Эфиопии, о проблеме малых языков Эфиопии, о языковой политике Эритреи и Эфиопии. В рамках курса студенты проходят также онлайн-курс по сравнительной типологии фольклора (https://stepik.org/course/51/promo).
