Course Syllabus
Abstract
Throughout the process of mastering the discipline, students become familiar with understanding of intellectual property as the main driving force of business, understanding the role and importance of intellectual property for the company’s development in the digital age. The course is aimed at students' practical skills development for identifying intellectual property and persons involved in its creation, identifying business processes in the organization's activities related to the creation, acquisition, protection or commercialization of intellectual property and intangible assets valuation.

- • Studying the features of intellectual property as the most important assets of an organization in the digital age
- • Studying the processes of creation, acquisition, commercialization and protection of intellectual property
- • Studying the features and methodology of intangible assets valuation
Expected Learning Outcomes
- • Knows the main intellectual property characteristics.
- • Knows how to use tools for intellectual property management.
- • Knows and understands the basic regulations for intellectual property, considering the realities of the digital economy.
- • Obtains the skills of intangible assets valuation, including digital ones.
Course Contents
- Topic 1. Introduction to intellectual property and intangible assets management and valuation
- Topic 2. The role of intellectual property and intangible assets for company development
- Topic 3. Intangible assets accounting
- Topic 4. Intangible assets valuation
- Topic 5. Intellectual property management
Assessment Elements
- Current controlCurrent control is carried out in the form of test based on the first five topics. Each test includes 10 questions. The test is held during seminars.
- ProjectThe project is a group one and is performed in teams of 3-5 people. The distribution of teams is carried out by students independently. Each team receives a task from the lecturer, make it at home and then present on seminar. Detailed instructions and criteria for evaluation are provided to students during the course.
- ExamThe final exam is a test with questions that cover the entire course. It is conducted online using the SmartLMS system
