Course Syllabus
Abstract
The course gives students the knowledge necessary for the implementation of the project in commercial and non-profit sector. The aim of the course is to develop skills in the field of project management. Each project must be limited in time, have clear criteria for the outcomes (given the characteristics of the product obtained), assume an external or internal request. The course will give an overview of what corporate investment decisions involve. It will provide tools and techniques for an investment projects appraisal as well as for managing portfolios of investment projects.
Learning Objectives
- To learn about implementation of project work;
- To build knowledge about Agile approach and its popular framework Scrum to project management and develop team-building skills for working in demanding environments;
- To develop an understanding of the theoretical foundations and practical aspects of the investments decisions made by the financial managers of a corporation;
- To study methods of investment projects efficiency, to receive investment analysis skills required in developing company's strategy.
Expected Learning Outcomes
- Understand the stages of the project cycle
- Define a scope of a project and state the project problem
- Be able to identify project environment and project risks
- Be able to monitor project activities and assess progress
- Estimate the necessary resources for the project and their costs
- Be able to assess and manage the project risks
- Set goals in teams and delegate the tasks
- Be able to write a project plan
- Be able to organize effective teamwork with task, velocity and performance tracking based on PMBOK, Agile, Scrum
- Be able to distinguish project activity from operations
- Define the main constraints of project activities;
- Be able to estimate stakeholders’ engagement
- Be able to choose the development approaches
- Be able to allocate the project resources to the tasks
- Be able to assemble the high-performing project teams
- Be able to use different tools for the design-thinking and problem-solving
- Calculate measures used to evaluate capital projects and the decision rules associated with them
- Evaluate and rank alternative investment projects
