Course Syllabus

Abstract

The course introduces the process of formal inquiry and helps students to develop analytical skills needed to collect research relevant information, process and analyze the data using established quantitative or qualitative research methods and to make conclusions on the basis of research results. It makes students familiar with the development of structured questions to guide their inquiry, bibliographic research to set their inquiry in the context of the work of other scholars, research design and the selection of research methods.

  • introduce how to prepare and evaluate research report

    Students can get points for correct answers during the in-class discussions.
  • non-blocking Test 1
    Tests are held during the lectures, starting from the second one. Each test lasts 10 minutes and includes multiple-choice questions on topics covered in the previous lectures. The weight of each test in the final grade is five percent.

  • non-blocking Team presentation
    Students are expected to form teams of 2 or 3. Each team should select a topic for analysis and prepare a 10-minute oral presentation with no more than eight slides. Find 3–4 articles from indexed journals listed in The Financial Times list of 50 Journals or relevant journal(s) indexed in Web of Science and/or Scopus. The presentation should include an introduction with a summary of similarities, analysis of selected articles, conclusion with a summary of dissimilarities, and a list of references. The selected topic has to be approved by the course instructor in advance.
