Course Syllabus
Abstract
The course covers the main areas of general management and the intellectual foundations of management concepts. It includes such topics as scientific schools of management, history of management, and financial accounting. It is the basis upon which more specialized functional management courses can be taken.
Learning Objectives
- Discuss the evolution of management as a subject field, its application to the development of organisations in diverse contexts
- Understand the influence of external evrinonment, organisational life cycles and major managerial challenges to management system in organisation
- Identify main approaches to organisation’s structure, strategic planning and effective performance assessment
- Identify and explain main tangible and intangible resources of an organisation and team management
- Explore main challenges and solutions to managing teams and individual employees, leadership styles, process of team building
- Discuss and analyze real-business problems and cases within international setting
Expected Learning Outcomes
- Can assess the situation in the organization, chose and implement a solution, and evaluate the outcome of the solution
- Can perform and communicate well when happens to be in international contexts (e.g., international companies, research groups, projects)
- Effectively performs his/her managerial responsibilities while working with people from different religious, cultural, linguistic, professional, educational backgrounds
- Has knowledge and skills to contribute to the planning and implementation of an effective marketing strategy
- Has knowledge and skills to contribute to the planning and implementation of new products or technologies
- Apply knowledge and skills to contribute to the planning and implementation of new products or technologies
- Applies knowledge to analyze real-business problems and cases within international setting
