Learning Objectives

  • The objective of the discipline "Gender and Development" is to understand basic approaches to the research of gender inequality and to learn about gender equality across the world.
Expected Learning Outcomes

Expected Learning Outcomes

  • To know basic theoretical approaches to gender equality
  • To understand the advantages and disadvantages of quantitative and qualitative approaches to gender equality
  • To know basic concepts and principles of measurement of gender-role attitudes and other issues related to gender equality
  • To be able to characterize gender value gap
  • To know the fertility issues and reproductive decisions in relation to gender equality, to understand the importance of reproductive health for development
  • To be able to characterize reproductive rights reproductive rights
  • To understand the gender inequality in the labour market
  • To know different explanations of the gender inequality in the household
  • To be able to apply theoretical approaches to explanation of gender inequality in the labor market and household
  • To understand gender inequality in governmental organization
  • To understand problems of gender violence and sexual harassment
  • To know the main gender indices, their advantages and disadvantages
  • To know different types of social policies aiming at achieving gender equality
  • To have the skill to criticize and evaluate different forms of gender differences
