Course Syllabus

Abstract

The course provides an overview of an ESG framework and how it is integrated in a company’s business processes and decision-making. It examines each component (Environmental, Social and Governance) in detail and provides an insight into how they converge to impact a company and its internal and external stakeholders and to influence a wide range of functions from production to corporate finance to employer brand. The course provides a good combination of the most recent theoretical developments in sustainability science and practical knowledge from a wide range of business leaders from across sectors (production, IT, retail, finance, etc.) and business functions. As part of the course, the student will also learn about the most advanced concepts and methods of evaluating anthropogenic impacts, including Ecological Footprint, Planetary Boundaries and the Living Planet Index. Lastly, we look at key considerations from both the company and investor perspectives, before applying theory to practice in a series of case studies
