Course Syllabus
Abstract
The program is aimed at students of the educational program “Foreign Languages and Intercultural Communication” who learn Italian as a second foreign language. The program follows all the requirements to form communicative competence in a foreign language. The discipline “Communicative practice of the second foreign language (Italian)” corresponds to the basic part of the professional cycle.
Learning Objectives
- The main goal of the discipline is to develop foreign language communicative competence at a level not lower than B1 (according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages). Proficiency at this level creates conditions for unprepared communication with native speakers of the language without significant difficulties in word and phrase selection, allows for clear and detailed communication on a wide range of topics, expressing one's view on the main issue, describing the advantages and disadvantages of different options, as well as understanding the main content of complex texts on abstract and concrete topics, including texts and discussions on specialized topics.
Expected Learning Outcomes
- Can ask and answer simple questions; Introduce itself, make request, give advice, make suggestion, expressing agreement/disagreement and make an offer; Communicate on daily topics such as daily routines, description of surrounding things, ordering food, shopping, travelling, asking direction etc.
- Students will learn words and expressions about food and become able to use them in situations such as doing groceries, ordering a meal at a restaurant, and cooking a meal according to a recipe. Students will be able to talk about their own eating habits.
- Students are able to plan a trip and discuss their holiday plans
- Students are able to describe their preferences in cinema and speak about the greatest Italian cinema stars
- Students are able to comunicate at supermarket and to speak about grocery shopping
- Students are able to talk about fashion and to comunicate at the clothes store
- Students can talk about the information resources they use
- Students are able to talk about music preferences and about contemporary Italian singer
- Students are able to compare educational systems in Russia and Italy.
- Students are able to make a CV, compose a presentation letter, get infos about credit cards and bank accounts
- Students will make proper word and grammar choices and adjust speech and writing register to express intended meaning within topics covered during the course

Assessment Elements
- Written speech controlCurrent control of written speech is carried out in the following forms: production of a written text in accordance with the communicative task, performance of tasks for general / detailed understanding of the written text, lexical and grammatical tests on the material studied
- Assessment workLexical-grammatical tasks within the topics studied in the module
- Oral speech controlCurrent control of oral speech is carried out in the following forms: monologic and dialogic statements on the subject of the course, performance of tasks for general/detailed understanding of the sounding text.
- ExamConsists of a written test and an oral interview on the topics studied in the semester
