Course Syllabus
Abstract
Problems of Greek Historiography. The course is aimed at highlighting the most controversial and prominent problems in modern classical studies. The research seminar covers issues of Greek historiography. A special feature of the program is that it mainly addresses those issues that have survived a change in the research paradigm and examines the modern achievements of historical science in relation to a particular problem.
Expected Learning Outcomes
- To be able to use the key ideas of Greek thinkers from Thales to Aristotle, including: the debate around virtue, justice, truth and the possibility of rational explanation of the universe.
- We will take a close look at the most authoritative story on the origin of the cosmos from Greek antiquity: Hesiod’s Theogony.
