Abstract

Problems of Greek Historiography. The course is aimed at highlighting the most controversial and prominent problems in modern classical studies. The research seminar covers issues of Greek historiography. A special feature of the program is that it mainly addresses those issues that have survived a change in the research paradigm and examines the modern achievements of historical science in relation to a particular problem.

To be able to use the key ideas of Greek thinkers from Thales to Aristotle, including: the debate around virtue, justice, truth and the possibility of rational explanation of the universe.
We will take a close look at the most authoritative story on the origin of the cosmos from Greek antiquity: Hesiod’s Theogony.
