Abstract
This course assists students in advancing their scholarly research and writing skills for conducting their master’s thesis research project. The course includes mini-lectures, homework readings, and class discussions, presentations, and hands-on activities
Learning Objectives
- This course assists students in advancing their scholarly research and writing skills for conducting their master’s thesis research project. The course includes mini-lectures, homework readings, and class discussions, presentations, and hands-on activities
Expected Learning Outcomes
- formulate a research question\purpose that is based a research problem that is clearly identified and supported by literature.
- discuss the research topic in terms of existing research as well as key relevant constructs and theories.
- design, develop, and write up a research methodology and carry out an empirical study.
- present, discuss, and describe the results of the study by providing meaningful explanations and interpretations, highlighting potential contribution to theory, and suggesting possible implications for practice and research.
- understand the concept of research ethics and possible consequences of fraud and plagiarism in scholarly research
- revise and edit drafts, provide feedback to peers, and adhere to the existing standards of scholarly communication

- Research idea presentationThis assignment aims to encourage the students to think of their thesis research and elaborate on the research question\purpose and its justification in terms of relevancy\timeliness, originality\novelty, and potential contribution to theory and practice.
- Methodology plan presentationThis assignment aims to encourage the students to think of the methodology of their thesis research.
- Extended research proposal pre-defenseThis assignment provides students an opportunity to present and defend their thesis proposal.
