Course Syllabus
Abstract
The course aims at developing basic communicative competences in the chosen foreign language that include: communicative competence, language competence, socio-cultural competence, cognitive competence.
Learning Objectives
- Gain basic knowledge of Japanese phonetics, vocabulary and grammar.
- Basic skills of constructing a coherent text/dialogue within the studied topics, as well as skills of translation from Russian into Japanese and from Japanese into Russian using the studied vocabulary and grammatical constructions.
Expected Learning Outcomes
- Students can formulate what they can or cannot do, give several reasons, express first impression, talk about uncertain things, use constructions of desire, talk about feeling unwell
- Students can suggest doing something together, describe people and things in details, make preparations, make plans for a trip, talk about doing a favor, express an apology, regret, hopes and wishes, point out the similarities, discuss hypothetical situations, formulate what they hear from others, describe the states of things, discuss failures
- Students can describe the states of things, express gratitude, use honorific and humble expressions, ask for directions, talk about bad experiences
- Students can talk about bad experiences, instruct people to do things, ask for and give advice, use conditional forms to describe events
- Students can write and read about 331 Japanese characters
