Course Syllabus

Abstract

This introductory course covers the fundamental features of countries and regions of the world which determine the diversity of international business landscape. As the modern turbulent business world becomes a more challenging place to operate internationally it is necessary to educate students in contemporary measures and approaches to analysing the differences between types of systems which shape business environments across the globe (e.g. economic, legal, etc.). in order to provide students with the skills necessary to capture global business opportunities. The course provides a variety of company level case studies and role-plays based on a fundamental country-level overview of such areas of international business as Differences in Economic Development, National Differences in Political, Economic, and Legal Systems; Differences in Cultures, Ethics, CSR and Sustainability. The successful completion of the course will increase students’ ability to develop their knowledge on fundamental differences between global markets and the corresponding implications for international business practices as well as to think globally about countries and regions of the world which enable a high quality decision making processes informed by the 'big picture' which will be enriched with evidence based opinions of international business experts invited to contribute to this introductory course.
