Course Syllabus

Abstract

The course is a part of the “International Business” Master’s program, in turn, being a part of the “Management” program. This course covers a variety of legal aspects of international business. Those include the general international legal framework of international business; trade and trade finance issues; intellectual property and licensing issues; transnational investment issues; international civil litigation and arbitration issues; some international taxation issues; and selected public law issues. The course is intended mostly for non-lawyers. Accordingly, we will not go too deep into legal tech-nicalities. Instead, we are going to consider wide legal notions and general legal concepts applicable to international trade and transnational investment. The course is intended to be relatively down-to-earth rather than purely theoretical. About a half of the class time will be devoted to lecturing. During the other half we will discuss case studies and court cases from various jurisdictions, mostly from the U.S., England, and Russia. The knowledge, abilities, and skills acquired in this course may be used in other International Business course programs.
