Course Syllabus

Abstract

This course focuses on the peculiarities of the Russian media system, especially in relation to the social, political and cultural structures ingrained in Russian public life. The course explains the very concept of a media system, its structure and dynamics, as well as the historical stages of development of the domestic media system. This course provides an overview of media systems (print media, news agencies, radio, television, online media, social media, book publishing, film industry and media companies), and also provides a critical analysis of modern media practices.
