Course Syllabus

Abstract

The course is designed for the first year Master’s degree students and aimed at improving skills in Business rhetoric and communication. The course is based on authentic materials and encourages students to practice both written and oral communication skills that are vital for entrepreneurs and managers. It allows for the personalization of the learning experience with a structured modular approach that gives flexibility to focus on specific needs and learning outcomes. Role-playing games encompassing negotiations, business correspondence, making presentations at business meetings, as well as pitching and dealing with conflicts, form and develop students' business communication skills in a meaningful and authentic professional context

Expected Learning Outcomes

Expected Learning Outcomes

  • Students are able to recognize argument structures and structure their arguments in writing according to their purpose; they are able to recognize and avoid logical fallacies in their writing.
  • Students should write longer arguments using a variety of rhetorical modes and techniques.
  • Students will be able to use the methods of persuasion, to identify logical fallacies and to deliver a persuasive speech
  • Students are able to report the data using the visuals (graphs, bar charts, etc.)
  • Students are able to demostrate profound presentation and self-presentation skills in the business context
  • Students are able to develop coherent and persuasive argumentation
  • Students are able to present ideas in a form of a pitch and create a pitch deck
  • Students are able to create an initial letter of introduction with the use of rhetorical devices
