Course Syllabus
Abstract
Академическое письмо - это важная составляющая работы аспиранта. Умение представить результаты собственной исследовательской работы в виде манускрипта и довести его до публикации в журнале - это залог успешности обучения в аспирантуре. Курс "Академическое письмо" направлен на отработку навыков, необходимых на каждом этапе написания статей: от постановки цели и уточнения проблемы до финального драфта статьи. В рамках курса аспиранты максимально погрузятся в практику подготовки публикаций, получая на лекционных занятий необходимую информацию, а в ходе совместной работы с преподавателями кура - перерабатывая отдельные части своего текста. В результате курса каждый аспирант пройдет путь от чернового варианта своей статьи до текста, подготовленного к подаче в целевой журнал.
Learning Objectives
- Critical reading and analysis of published scholarly work;
- Concise and coherent scholarly writing in English;
- Concise and coherent scholarly discussion of students' projects in English;
- Constructive formative assessment of students' own and other’s writing;
- Self-regulation (SR) of students' academic writing behaviors and practices
Expected Learning Outcomes
- Self-regulate writing by setting goals, selecting writing strategies, evaluating their effectiveness, and making adjustments as needed.
- Critically read and analyze published scholarly work
- Analyze and constructively critique students' own writing and work of their peers.
- Construct and support a compelling argument using effective and persuasive language.
- Concisely and coherently communicate original ideas.
- Integrate new ideas with the ideas of other scholars.
- Engage in an efficient writing process that includes drafting, revising, editing, and proofreading
- Develop a coherent thesis/article proposal that includes introduction, literature review, methods, results, and discussion/conclusion sections in English, based on their previous work in Russian.
- Concisely and coherently communicate main ideas discussed in the conference proposal in a short presentation.
