Course Syllabus

Abstract

This course is intended to understand social changes from the positions of diverse groups in contemporary Korea. The course will aim to provide an anthropological perspective on the lives of modern Koreans against the structural systems of political systems and economic policies. Throughout the course, students will be familiarized with sociological and anthropological analyses of Korean culture in a critical perspective. The course will also illuminate diverse perspectives of Korean society depending on a different region, gender, generation, class, and ethnicity.

  • Students will gain a comparative perspective on Korean culture.
