Course Syllabus

Abstract

The objectives of the discipline are: to present to the students the concept of various socio-cultural contexts needed for successful communication; to familiarise the students with the main conceptual areas and areas of application of language competencies in which research on cross-cultural pragmatics is the most relevant; to teach students how to use research methods and design experiments in the field of cross-cultural pragmatics

  • В результате освоения дисциплины студент должен: знать: • основные понятия современной межкультурной коммуникации (умение выделить и описать основной спектр коммуникативных контекстов, релевантных для успешной коммуникации в рамках конкретной лингвокультуры); • современные теории в области межкультурной коммуникации (когнитивная и коммуника-тивная лингвистики, современная версия теории лингвистической относительности, русская коммуникативная культура в сопоставительном аспекте); уметь: • использовать экспериментальные модели и владеть дизайном экспериментов для анализа микро- и макропрагматических феноменов в разных культурах; владеть: • навыками критического мышления в области межкультурной коммуникации. Основные положения дисциплины могут быть использованы в дальнейшем при изучении следую-щих дисциплин: Межкультурная коммуникация в бизнесе и управлении, Типология с точки зрения методики преподавания РКИ, Языковая интерференция: теория и практика.
  • To be acquainted with the main concepts of the intercultural communication: relevant communication contexts of the given linguistic and cultural community
  • To be acquainted with the main intercultural communication models: situated cognitive linguistics, modern version of the relativity hypothesis, key concepts of the Russian culture
  • To know how to use experimental models for the analysis of the micro- and macro-pragmatic features in various cultures

    Individual or group research of a problem /communication failure between representatives of the Russian and Other cultures. - to find out the reason of the conflict, define the problem, suggest the ways of overcoming it - own fieldwork is recommended - both – the analysis and its final presentation are assessed

    analyze given communicative situations based on the tools described in the lectures

    describe cultural components of the commercial products, or the Russian public or institutional discourse
