HSE University continues to accept applications for various master's programmes, including online programmes taught in English. Applicants with interests in IT, economics, finance, innovation, management, marketing, or design are invited to apply for these online master's degrees offered by HSE University. The application deadline for the programmes is September 16, 2024, and the classes start on October 1, 2024.

The study duration is two years in a full-time format, with courses delivered remotely. Upon successful completion, graduates will receive an official HSE diploma with an English-language supplement.

IT

Active and future IT specialists can choose from HSE programmes such as ‘Data Analytics and Social Statistics’ and ‘Artificial Intelligence and Computer Vision.’

The ‘Data Analytics and Social Statistics’ programme is Russia’s first English-language programme in applied statistics. Academic Supervisor, Ivan Klimov, shares more about this course.

Ivan Klimov

— The main idea behind the programme is to use modern IT tools to solve practical research problems and obtain well-founded, interpretable, and significant results. We train specialists who can answer the two key questions: ‘How do you know?’ and ‘So what?’

Our students’ primary interest is learning to work with data. That is why the programme follows a hands-on approach: students solve practical problems as they study and gain experience in real research and development projects. Participants can engage in projects with the teachers and staff of the International Laboratory for Applied Network Research, or they can bring their own tasks to the table and work in teams.

The English-language master’s programme ‘Artificial Intelligence and Computer Vision’ was developed by HSE scientists in collaboration with leading experts from major companies involved in cutting-edge computer vision research. Graduates will be able to work on any projects related to object recognition, creation of 3D reconstructions and photo filters, mobile app development for recognising objects in photos and videos, and the implementation of machine learning (ML) in industries such as manufacturing, retail, healthcare, banking, and more.

Economics and Finance

Applicants interested in Economics and Finance can choose the ‘Master of Finance’ or ‘Master of Business Analytics’ programmes.

Specialists who directly influence a company’s profits have always been highly valued in the market. Financial analysts focus on investment decisions, resources for business development, financial models and forecasts, financial optimisation, risk management, and innovation. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the demand for these professionals will grow by at least 6% by 2029. The HSE master’s programme ‘Master of Finance’ provides the necessary knowledge and skills to prepare graduates to work as financial analysts, strategic and financial managers, or finance and investment directors in leading companies.

Irina Ivashkovskaya, Academic Supervisor of the ‘Master of Business Analytics’ programme, shares some interesting facts about the programme.

Irina Ivashkovskaya

— The revolutionary idea of our programme is recognising the new role of financial specialists in companies, regardless of industry or country.

The most notable features of our programme include the new tasks and methods of financial work in business. That is why we offer two distinct learning tracks: one on the new architecture of business value in any industry and another on the new architecture of business reporting.

Another unique aspect of our programme is its project-based approach. Each course from January to April/May features an original learning experience in the form of a project laboratory, led by experts from well-known companies. Students work on real business challenges provided by these experts, and interact with them online twice a month. These laboratories integrate all the materials covered in the course and create synergy within the programme.

Innovations

The HSE master’s programme ‘Master of International Business’ helps students gain knowledge and skills in innovation.

The world is changing rapidly, and so is the business landscape. As a result, companies are looking for specialists who can come up with innovative strategies. These professionals can earn salaries ranging from 150,000 to 400,000 roubles per month, or even up to 700,000 roubles. The ‘Master of International Business’ programme provides the skills and knowledge to start a successful career in this field. Students learn how to analyse markets, negotiate with international partners, assess political and economic opportunities and risks, manage corporate finances, make investment decisions, and implement internationalisation projects. They also learn how to generate and evaluate business ideas, and address strategic planning challenges.
