Nadezhda Radina, Professor at the HSE Faculty of Humanities in Nizhny Novgorod, studied psychological well-being among foreign students in Russia and presented her findings in a report ‘Educational Migration in the Context of the New Migration Policy of Russia’, which was prepared for the XV April International Academic Conference on Economic and Social Development.

The HSE will study Russia’s economic history together with colleagues from the New Economic School (NES). The project with Skolkovo will address problems of law and social development in the contemporary world. International researchers will be involved in both laboratories.

Dr. Marek Dabrowski, CASE Fellow at the CASE — Center for Social and Economic Research in Warsaw, Poland, has participated in every HSE April Conference since 2001, missing just the 2000 inaugural event.  A professor with decades of experience in the field of economics, Dr. Dabrowski’s current areas of expertise range from monetary and fiscal policies and political economies in transition to perspectives on European integration and European Neighborhood Policy. In advance of next week’s XV HSE April Conference, Dr. Dabrowski kindly took part in a brief interview with the HSE News Service.

Sebastian Galiani, Professor of Economics at the University of Maryland and Visiting Professor at Universidad de San Andres, will deliver a public lecture at the HSE’s XV April International Academic Conference on Economic and Social Development. In advance of next week's Conference, the HSE News Service conducted this brief interview with Professor Galiani.

In March 2014 winners of the HSE Student Research Work 2013 Competition were given a week in the Netherlands. The HSE paid for 25 undergraduate and graduate students from nearly every faculty to go on the trip.

The issue is devoted to postdocs. The editors talk to current postdocs, Seth Bernstein, Michael Rochlitz, Irina Andrievskaya and former postdoctoral fellow and current Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Sociology, Lili Di Puppo. Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Philosophy. Stefan Heßbrüggen-Walter also shares his experience of being a postdoc in Germany.

20^th March 2014, at a conference of staff and teachers at the HSE, Rector Yaroslav Kuzminov gave an account of the results of the 2009-2013 HSE Programme for Development. These are the main points of his presentation.

Professor Jonathan Linton, Power Corporation Professor for the Management of Technological Enterprise of the University of Ottawa, Canada, and Editor-in-Chief of the ‘Technovation‘ journal has been appointed as the new Head of the HSE Laboratory for Science and Technology Studies at ISSEK the Institute of Statistical Studies and Economics of Knowledge. In this interview for the HSE English Language News Servicel he talked about what he hopes to achieve in his new job.

On March 14, 2014 the photo competition ‘Vyshka. Self-portrait’ successfully came to a conclusion. It’s the first time a photo competition has taken place at the HSE Saint Petersburg, and was held in honour of the 15 th  anniversary of the Saint Petersburg HSE campus.

The play La Folie Positive, performed by the HSE Le Defi student theatre, took top honors at the Francophone festival Rideau Rouge, which took place in Naples, Italy.

Miroslava Prozorovskaya, first-year student of the Faculty of Economics has won the competition ‘Miss HSE 2014’ at a pageant organized by the HSE Nizhny Novgorod.

11-12 March, 2014, in Davos, at the 5^th World Communication Forum, where traditionally, winners of the Communication for Future Davos Award (C4F) are announced, Sergey Zverev, Head of the HSE School of Integrated Communications, was awarded C4F in the ‘Titan of the Future’ nomination.
