On September 1, 2016, finalists in PROBA-IPRA GWA 2016, a major international professional contest in PR and communications, were announced. It has been attracting Russia’s best projects in communications for 17 years.

Anastasia Denisova, 2nd-year student of the MA programme in Business Informatics, and Evgeny Golota, 2nd-year student of the MA programme in e-business took part in the summer school ‘Alternative Economic and Monetary Systems’ that was held July-August 2016 in Vienna, Austria.

At the end of August, all freshly enrolled HSE students will get HSE e-mail addresses. They will be able to get their addresses at their initial meetings with programme office staff*. We’d like to inform you more about the opportunities that come along with HSE e-mail.

A Russian team made up of Economics & Statistics students of the HSE Faculty of Economics took part in the 3rd International Statistics Olympiad, held in Tehran, Iran, from August 7 – 11, 2016. This was the first time our students had participated in the contest, and they took second place, losing only to the host team, which consisted of the winners of a national student test in statistics.

Second-year students on the History BA programme at HSE Perm have gone on an archaeological expedition as part of their internship. This year, HSE students have joined geology students from Oxford University on an excavation at Mokinski burial grounds.

On June 9-12, 2016, VI Summer School 'Designing Feasible Cross-Cultural Research: Sampling and Procedure' was held outside Moscow. The event was organized by the International Research and Teaching Laboratory for Socio-Cultural Research of the Expert Institute at HSE. The headline teachers at the school were the leading researchers known across the world: Fons van de Vijver (PhD, Professor, Tilburg University) and Klaus Boehnke (PhD, Professor, Jacobs University, Bremen).

From May 26 – 27, 2016, the European Society for Research in Adult Development 2016 Symposium took place in The Hague, the Netherlands.

Mark Evlampiev, student of the Master’s programme 'Project Management: Project Analysis, Investments, and Implementation Technologies', measured the level of happiness in the urban environment using data from the social network Instagram in the city of Perm.

Strategic Management in Logistics MA students have taken part in the international conference ‘Research and Technology – Step into the Future’.
