Profile
Panos Kompatsiaris works in the intersection of visual culture, cultural studies and media theory, focusing on the broader politics of media and culture. He has published articles and chapters on global art institutions, labour in the creative industries, working class and ethnic minorities in film, artistic populism, curating, animal studies and celebrity activism. He is the author of The Politics of Contemporary Art Biennials: Spectacles, of Critique, Art and Theory, Routledge, 2017 and co-editor of The Industrialization of Creativity and Its Limits Values, Politics and Lifestyles of Contemporary Cultural Economies (Springer, 2020).
Areas of research interest and potential supervision include: curating and media; contemporary art institutions; othering and visual representations; creative work; digital ehtnography; animals and media.

13 октября на Покровском бульваре прошёл День открытых дверей магистратуры Института медиа. Абитуриенты узнали больше о каждом направлении и траекториях поступления, пообщались с академическими руководителями программ.
Магистратура Вышки – новый горизонт возможностей
19 мая в Культурном Центре НИУ ВШЭ прошел День открытых дверей магистратуры Института медиа. Презентацию образовательных программ провели заместитель директора Института медиа Олег Дмитриев и доцент Института медиа Ирина Куманева. Совместно с преподавателями, студентами и выпускниками они раскрыли все особенности и секреты обучения в магистратуре.
Итоги проведения Зимних школ Института медиа-2024
3 марта прошло заключительное занятие Зимних школ Института медиа–2024. В ближайшее время участники получат сертификаты, которые дают дополнительные 5 баллов в портфолио для поступления в магистратуру.
‘Every Experience Is New to Me’
Trang Ly is a 25-year-old master’s student from Vietnam. In addition to her studies on the Critical Media Studies programme at HSE University-Moscow, she works as a composer and contributes to the Life in Moscow series on the university’s website. Students of Critical Media Studies Carry out Research on Monsters and Horror
Traditionally, humans have imagined monsters as the exact opposite of themselves: huge, violent, or invisible and soulless beasts. This is apparent in many examples in cinema. However, the image of monsters on the screen transforms with time. A group of Critical Media Studies master’s students organised an event covering the topic of how this transformation takes place at the ‘Playing with Fear: New Image of Monsters in Horror Films’ round table on December 10th.

ВШЭ открывает новую англоязычную магистерскую программу «Критические медиаисследования»
Новая магистерская программа НИУ ВШЭ, «Критические медиаисследования/Critical Media Studies», открывается на Факультете коммуникаций, медиа и дизайна. Набор иностранных студентов на осень 2020 года уже идет. Академический руководитель программы, доцент ВШЭ Панайотис Компациарис рассказал новостной службе портала, какие курсы и исследовательские возможности предлагаются первым студентам программы, а также о том, что делает ее уникальной.
