Course Syllabus
Abstract
In this course, students will become familiar with the basic concepts of game theory. The course will cover the main types of games and their solution concepts as applied to economic problems. The course is conducted in a blended format. Students listen to lectures at SmartLMS platform (https://edu.hse.ru/course/view.php?id=133375), and then work on problems related to the topics covered in the classroom.
Learning Objectives
- The objective of the course is to provide students with knowledge of basic terms in game theory. Students will learn different game types and different concept of their solutions, will understand the difference between found solutions. This competence will be trained through several exercises on seminars. Moreover, student will learn how to “find a game” in real life or in science problems and make decisions based on game solutions
Expected Learning Outcomes
- Know the basic concepts of game theory
- Be able to identify types of games
- Capable of finding a solution of a game
- Can interpret the obtained game solution

- Game definition and dominance
- Nash equilibrium in pure and in mixed strategies
- Dynamic games

- Active work at classThe grade for active participation in class includes solving problems at the board, completing additional tasks, answering questions, and more.
- Individual hometask
Interim Assessment
