From August 9 to 13, the Sirius Center hosted an international conference of world-class mathematical centers, which was attended by employees of the International laboratory of dynamical systems and applications and the Department of Fundamental Mathematics, as well as students of the Faculty of Informatics of Mathematics and Computer Science.

Recently the Laboratory of Topological Methods in Dynamics, which is headed by Professor Olga Pochinka on HSE’s Nizhny Novgorod campus, received international status. Professor Pochinka spoke with the HSE News Service about the applied use of research in fundamental mathematics and her grand plans for the future.  This interview is the first of a special series on HSE’s international laboratories.

On November 5, educational partnership between the Master’s programme in Mathematics offered by HSE Nizhny Novgorod and the University of Passau, Germany, was finalized. Upon graduation from the joint programme, students will receive a Master’s degree in Mathematics from HSE and a Master of Science in Computational Mathematics degree from the German university.

The conference took place on the 21st of April in a heavenly place near Poznan (Poland).

During the January vacation Professors at the Department of Fundamental Mathematics Vyacheslav Grines and Olga Pochinka went to France to conduct joint research in the field of dynamic systems with leading world scholar Christian Bonatti.
