The Advanced State Academic Scholarship is awarded to budget (non fee-paying) students (and students studying under contracts at the expense of HSE University) for special achievements in education, research, social, cultural, creative, and sports activities.

Applications for ASAS are accepted through the LMS system.

The results of the competition will be agreed upon at a meeting of the University Scholarship Commission (USC).

An advanced scholarship may be awarded in one or more areas.

You cannot submit documents for an increased scholarship for which an increased scholarship has already been awarded. Also, each document (achievement) can only be used to participate in one competition area.

We recommend that you familiarize yourself with the conditions of the competition (see the Regulations on scholarship support) and prepare your documents by creating a personal portfolio in LMS in advance.

In your application for ASAS, you will be able to submit only those documents (achievements) that you have previously uploaded to your portfolio.

Graduates (4th year of bachelor's degree, 2nd year of master's degree, 5th year of specialist's degree) have the following options for the summer competition (winter competition is on general terms):

  • Either to participate in the June competition, if they are on vacation in July (there is an order). At the same time, if they win the competition, they will be awarded an ASAS until they leave HSE (ie, until a maximum of August 12);
  • Or to participate (except for master's degree graduates) in the competition next winter (December), subject to admission to the master's programme. At the same time, subject to victory in the winter competition, they will be awarded an ASAS from January to June.

Applications for ASAS must be submitted through the LMS system beginning on the date specified in the announcement.

If you encounter technical problems when submitting your application, please take a screenshot of the page with the error and send it to the system administrator (ONLY on weekdays from 10 am to 6 pm): lms@hse.ru.

DO NOT WAIT FOR THE DEADLINE TO SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION!

Once the acceptance period for applications is complete (closing of the LMS system for accepting applications), action will be taken within one day in regards to ‘complaints,’ ie, for technical problems which occurred while submitting applications (with screenshots to prove the problem).

For questions about the organization of the competition, please contact Centre for Scholarships and Charitable Programmes: scholarship@hse.ru.

Please note: ASAS for educational activities can be awarded:

  • Either for the results of academic progress based on the results of two consecutive semesters (without the participation of the student, the lists are generated automatically; the commission independently analyses the performance of all students and selects the winners with the best results—no more than 10% of all winners of the competition for ASAS in all areas);
  • OR for victories/prizes in academic competitions (Olympiads), project results, development activities during the previous year. The application is generated by the competition participant in the LMS.

You may submit applications in one or more areas at the same time.
